On this page is the details of the Chemical Engineering programme at the University Abraka campus. The details include the minimum Ordinary Level (O'level) and JAMB entry requirements for the programme, including the Direct Entry.

Apart from the engineering courses common to all engineering programmes, students who are studying to earn a BEng degrees in Chemical Engineering at Delta State university (DELSU) will be taught these following engineering courses which include but not limited to:

All these and many other courses are taught students to make them highly skill Chemical Engineers capable of doing research on their own and in conjunction with others to change composition, energy content and state of aggregation of materials.

DELSU Chemical Engineering is a five (5) years programme leading to the award of Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Chemical Engineering and is fully accredited by Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN)

JAMB/UTME (INDIRECT) Entry Requirements


Ordinary Level Subjects Requirements

To study Chemical Engineering at Delta State University (DELSU) an applicant must have sat for and passed one or two of the following O'Level examinations.
  • West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)
  • General Certificate of Examination (GCE) O'Level and 
  • Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) 
The applicant must have credit passes in at least five subjects which must include:
  • Mathematics
  • English Language
  • Physics
  • Chemistry and one other science subjects 
  • Biology
  • Technical Drawing
  • Further Mathematic.

JAMB/UTME Examination

The applicant must sit for JAMB coordinated Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), making the required cut off mark:

Delta State University Post UTME

Having been successful in the JAMB/UTME, applicant must also participate in the DELSU post UTME and make the required scores for the Department of Chemical Engineering.

Delsu Pre-Degree Programme

Delta State University accept it's pre degree result to 100 level of the Chemical Engineering, provided a student make the required scores and have necessary O/Level subjects combination 

Direct Entry Requirements

These following qualifications are accepted to 200 level of Chemical Engineering at Delta State University.
  • GCE Advance Level (A/L): two (2) good passes in Mathematic and Physics.
  • National Diploma: Upper Credit in Chemical Engineering or other relevant engineering programme from DELSU or other goverment approved institution
  • NABTEB's National Technical Certificate (NTC) with Credits in relevant technical programme.
  • JUPEB: Delta State University accept JUPEB result.
  • Higher National Diploma (HND): applicant with HND in Chemical Engineering with minimum of Upper Credit may be considered for admission to 300 level of programme at DELSU.
