The polytechnic Ibadan received accreditation to start teaching Mechatronics Engineering in 2012 with aim to producing entrepreneurial and highly skills technicians for both the public and private sectors of the economy.
The programme at Higher National Diploma (HND) level is available with options in Industrial Mechatronics Engineering Technology and Automotive Mechatronics Engineering Technology. The HND students are imparted with skill and knowledge in the field of eletro-mechanical and automotive Mechatronics, the type needed in the designing and production of automated and highly intelligent machines and the modern days electric vehicles.

The five O'level credit passes must be at not more than two sittings from one or two of the following examination qualifications

National Technical Certificate
JAMB Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)

Polytechnic Ibadan Post UTME Screening
Applicants must also participate in the Polytechnic Ibadan coordinated post UTME screening and make the cut off mark.
Note: candidates must have chosen the Polytechnic Ibadan as their first choice.
