Mechatronics Engineering and Entry Requirements | Polytechnic Ibadan

The Department of Mechatronics Engineering is the last to be created among the engineering departments at the Polytechnic Ibadan.

Not many universities in Nigeria teach Mechatronics Engineering as a programme not to talk of the Polytechnics. If you are out looking for a polytechnic to study this programme, The Polytechnic Ibadan is one of the very few where you can be taught.

The polytechnic Ibadan received accreditation to start teaching Mechatronics Engineering in 2012 with aim to producing entrepreneurial and highly skills technicians for both the public and private sectors of the economy.

The programme at Higher National Diploma (HND) level is available with options in Industrial Mechatronics Engineering Technology and Automotive Mechatronics Engineering Technology. The HND students are imparted with skill and knowledge in the field of eletro-mechanical and automotive Mechatronics, the type needed in the designing and production of automated and highly intelligent machines and the modern days electric vehicles.

ND Mechatronics Engineering Entry Requirements

Five O level credits in five relevants subjects which must include:

• Physics
• Mathematics
• English Language
• Chemistry and one of the 
• Technical Drawing
• Agricultural Science
• Further Mathematics
• Geography
• Biology
• Computer Studies
• Basics Electronics/ Electricity

The five O'level credit passes must be at not more than two sittings from one or two of the following examination qualifications

Senior Secondary Certificate Education (SSCE)

West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)

General Certificate of Education (GCE) or 

National Technical Certificate 

JAMB Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)

Candidates must sit for and make the JAMB coordinated UTME cut off mark of 150

JAMB Subjects Combination

• Physics
• Chemistry
• Mathematics and 
• English Language

Polytechnic Ibadan Post UTME Screening

Applicants must also participate in the Polytechnic Ibadan coordinated post UTME screening and make the cut off mark.

Note: candidates must have chosen the Polytechnic Ibadan as their first choice.

HND Mechatronics Engineering Entry Requirements

Five O'level result as required for ND programme

National Diploma (ND) in the same discipline with minimum of lower credit.

The Polytehnic Ibadan may consider those with pass their ND results but depend but with two (2) years post ND industrial training.

Evidence of one (1) year industrial training programme.
