To be eligible for consideration for admission to study for a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Agricultural Engineering at University of Benin (UNIBEN) requires students to be in possession of certain qualifications.
Listed below are the minimum qualifications required by the Department of Agricultural Engineering, UNIBEN. This include for the O'level candidates and for the higher qualifications holders (direct entry applicants) plus the JAMB and WAEC subject combination.
Minimum Entry Requirements
JAMB's UTME Candidates.
Students must have credit passes in five (5) O'level subjects which must include:
- Physics
- Mathematics
- English Language
- Chemistry and one of
- Biology
- Technical Drawing
- Agricultural Science
- Geography
- Further Mathematics or a
- Relevant Trade Subjects
The five credit must be at not more than two sittings from one or two of:
- West African Senior School Certificate (WASSCE)
- Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)
- General Certificate of Education (GCE O'level)
- National Technical Certificate (NTC)
O'level candidates must sit for, pass and make cut off mark for the JAMB's Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and University of Benin (UNIBEN) Department of Agricultural Engineering post UTME cut off mark.

- Mathematics
- English Language
- Chemistry
- Physics
Direct Entry Applicants
The following qualifications are accepted to study for a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) Agricultural Engineering, University of Benin (UNIBEN):
- General Certificate of Education (GCE A'Level): passes in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
- Higher National Diploma (HND): minimum of lower credit in relevant engineering/technology
- National Diploma (ND): Minimum of Upper Credit in relevant engineering and technology courses
- First Degree Holders: Minimum of Second Class Honour Degree in Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy or Agriculture Science or other Science courses.
- University of Benin (UNIBEN) Diploma in Agricultural Engineering, Chemical Engineering, ICT, Computer Engineering or Maritime Studies with Merit Pass or from other accredited universities with upper credit.
Holder of HND with Upper Credit from accredited tertiary educational institution will be admitted to 300 level of the Agricultural Engineering while holders of other qualifications as stated above would be considered for admission into 200 level at the Department of Agricultural Engineering.
All direct entry applicants must have five credit passes as stated above.
Agricultural Engineering at University of Benin (UNIBEN) is accredited by the Council of Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and National University Commission (NUC)
