Engineering Courses and Entry Requirements | UNICAL

The engineering courses at the University of Calabar are administered at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology.  

The faculty is said to be the youngest among the twenty (20) faculties that UniCal parades, operating seven departments that award Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree on successful completion of studies. All the courses the faculty offers lasted a duration of five years (10 semesters) for those admitted with O'level results.

Tje Faculty of Engineering and Technology, University of Calabar boost several laboratories, research facilities, conducive learning environment and several engineering workshops. 

Listed below are the general minimum entry requirements accepted to study any of the courses listed below. This include for O'level and direct entry applicants plus the JAMB subjects combination.


University of Calabar Offered Engineering Courses


Minimum Entry Requirements. 

University of Calabar accept minimum of credit passes from five subjects which must include: 
  • Mathematics 
  • Physics 
  • Chemistry  
  • English Language plus 
  • One other science subjects 
In addition to the above, an O'level applicant must sit for, pass and make the. It off mark for the JAMB coordinated UTME and University of Calabar post-UTME screening. 

JAMB Subjects Combination

  • Mathematics 
  • Physics 
  • Chemistry and 
  • English Language

The subjects combination is valid for all the offered engineering courses.


Direct Entry Minimum Admission  Requirements 

University of Calabar accept the following minimum qualifications to study for any of it engineering courses. 

  • National Diploma (ND): minimum of upper credit
  • JUPEB:  good points in Physics Chemistry Mathematics 
  • GCE A/Level: at least three pass grades from Mathematics Physics and Chemistry 
  • Higher National Diploma (HND): minimum of lower credit.  
  • Plus O'level result as stated above. 

All the taught engineering courses at the University of Calabar are duly accredited by COREN and the NUC.
