Having been established in 1975, UNILORIN started it engineering programmes in 1978 with the establishment of Faculty of Engineering and Technology. Three courses pioneered it engineering programmes and they were Mechanical, Civil and Electrical Engineering. Some other courses followed thereafter and today the university has highest number of accredited Engineering programmes in Nigeria
The number of the engineering courses on offer at the institution was ten at the time of putting up this page. They are all listed below:
- Agricultural Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Electrical and Electronics Engineering
- Biomedical Engineering
- Materials and Metallurgical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Water Resources and Environmental Engineering
- Food and Bioprocess Engineering
- Computer Engineering
The duration for all the above listed programmes is 5 years (10 semesters) leading to the award of Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) Certificate.
All the programmes are approved and recognised by National University Commission (NUC) and Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN)
A publication from COREN says that all the Engineering courses carried full accredittation as of March 2019 and they will expire in 2021 and 2024. Another accreditation could be sought for before or after the expiration.
